 20th Anniversary Great Gatsby Gala to be Held Uptown This Weekend

 

 

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – August 23, 2008 -- The 20th annual “roaring 20s” themed Great Gatsby Gala will take place this Saturday, August 23, at the Wachovia Atrium in Charlotte, with all proceeds benefiting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Mid-Atlantic Chapter.  The party, expected to draw over 700 guests in period attire, will offer complimentary beverages, food from 15 local Charlotte restaurants showcasing their culinary specialties, a costume contest, a dance competition and exhibition, and a silent auction with items such as getaway trips, spa visits, athletic event tickets, and original artwork, and a raffle for an estate strand of pearls from Perry’s at SouthPark worth $775.

                Tickets - $75/advance; $100/door

 

When:    Saturday, August 23, 2008; 8pm-midnight

Why:      MS is a chronic, unpredictable neurological disease that most often strikes otherwise healthy adults generally between the ages of 20-50.  MS can cause blurred vision, loss of balance, poor coordination, slurred speech, tremors, numbness, extreme fatigue, problems with memory and concentration, paralysis, and blindness. These problems may be permanent, or they may come and go. The Mid-Atlantic Chapter serves 33 counties of western North Carolina and all of South Carolina.
