HOME SECURITY CHECK DOs and DON’Ts: We welcome the opportunity to conduct security checks when you are going to be gone for more than 24 hours from your home. Please be aware that officers do not take in mail, clean out newspaper containers of flyers, take in trash cans, etc. You should make arrangements with a trusted neighbor or friend to see that these things are accomplished. If you delay leaving or arrive home early, it is imperative that you call us immediately. Our officers have found opened doors, called for back-up about a possible burglary—only to encounter a homeowner who has returned sooner than anticipated. As always, you can request a home security check on our town website or you can come to the station and fill out a request.
